50+ & Creative Art English Course

The 50+ English plus Creative Art Course offers senior students the chance to practise their English with similar aged people in an interesting and stimulating way in a small town where everything is within walking distance, and where it is possible to make meaningful connections with local English people through the English school’s welcoming host families and friendly TANDEM partners.

The English course for senior students plus creative art includes:

English lessons in the mornings (20 lessons/ 15 clock hours per week): in which English is practiced in a controlled environment, with plenty of correction, vocabulary development and speaking and listening practice. The English lessons are developed at a rhythm in accordance to the students’ needs.

Creative Art in the afternoons: each week students participate in two practical sessions, one language centred and one outing with complementary language input accompanied with the English teacher (approximately 6 hours per week in total).

Full social and cultural programme: in which students experience the best of the English way of life and add a cultural context to their English learning process through a full weekly programme of activities plus a full day Saturday trip to unspoilt Dartmoor or the South Devon coast.

Informal conversation practice with a TANDEM partner in the afternoons/evenings with local people learning your language or interested in your country through informal meeting outside the English school (subject to availability of local TANDEM partners).

This English course fee includes:

• 20 English lessons (15 clock hours) in the mornings in a closed group of 50+ students.
• Minimum group size of 6 students and maximum of 12 students.
• Elementary level of English and above.
• Four afternoon Creative Art sessions and activities.
• Full social programme including walks and entrances to local attractions, interesting workshops, school parties, full day Saturday trip to Dartmoor and full day Sunday trip to Land’s End and St Ives in Cornwall.
• TANDEM partner (if available)
• Half board host family accommodation or bed and breakfast can be arranged by the English school at an extra cost.

Courses for Foreign Teachers of English 2008

The two-week Course for Foreign Teachers of English offers teachers the opportunity to update their own English and to expand the scope of their teaching skills. These English courses aim to be practical, and to give teachers new ideas, skills and techniques which they can apply to their own teaching classes.

The course includes 30 sessions (22.5 x 60 minutes) of lessons and activities, focused on improving the foreign teacher’s level of English, and methods and strategies for teaching English to foreign students.

This course for teachers of English requires a minimum number of students of 4, and a maximum of 12. Students should have intermediate or above level of English.

Comenius funding for European students

This English course for teachers is eligible for Comenius funding.
